Year 2's Wedgwood Designs

As part of our History lessons we have been looking at Josiah Wedgwood. We started off making predictions about him using different sources of information and then we moved on to researching facts about him and his life. We loved finding out about why he was a significant person from history and did a great job making our own timelines of his life. The children were so interested in this topic, especially when they found out that he was from Stoke-on-Trent and that Wedgwood pottery is still being made today. We finished our topic looking at Josiah Wedgwood's most popular pottery design, Jasperware, and the children had a go at designing their own piece of pottery inspired by this. We think they have done a beautiful job and they really enjoyed using the Jasperware designs to create their own.
