Visitors

Visiting Sandon? Here's some information you'll need to know!

 

The welfare of our children at Sandon is our paramount concern.  We want all our children to be safe and to feel safe.

Upon arrival, all visitors must report to the Main Office or the Foundation Office where they will be required to sign in electronically, adhere to the terms laid out below and will be issued with a Visitor Pass.  Visitor Passes must be worn and displayed prominently at all times. For new visitors, a photo will be taken on sign in.

​Parking

  • The main offices and visitor car park are at a different postcode to the official school address. Please head to Harrowby Road (ST3 7AN) to park and go to the main office. Please do not arrive via Normacot Grange Road (ST3 7AW).
     

  • Please note: Harrowby Road is part of the School Streets Scheme. As such, access is restricted to non-residential vehicles during the following times: morning: 08:15 – 09:15 & afternoon: 14:45 – 15:45. If you are planning a visit to Sandon, please be aware that the visitor entrance is located on Harrowby Road, and you may need to adjust your arrival or departure time to avoid these restrictions. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Whilst on school premises, ALL visitors are required to:

  • Dress appropriately

  • Use appropriate language at all times

  • Use adult toilets only

  • Treat everyone with respect and tolerance

  • Immediately inform one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads if a child makes a disclosure or if you have any concerns about the safety or well-being of a child

Whilst on school premises, ALL visitors must not: 

  • Instigate verbal or physical contact with pupils unless it is appropriate and a part of the agreed reason for your visit

  • Give any personal information to pupils (e.g. phone number, email address, social media user names)

  • Use mobile phones, unless agreed with school staff

  • Take photographs, unless agreed with school staff

  • Smoke or vape

All visitors are subject to Sandon's Health & Safety regulations;

  • Follow school procedures whilst on premises

  • Sign in at the school office and take a visitor’s badge if applicable

  • Visitors will be met in the office and escorted into the building by a member of staff

  • Hand in your visitor’s badge and sign out on leaving the building

  • No smoking or vaping on site

Safeguarding children

  • If you have any concern that a child has been harmed, is at risk of harm, or you receive a disclosure; please contact the school office as quickly as possible and ask to speak to a member of staff with safeguarding responsibilities.

  • Do not enter the classrooms unless escorted by a member of staff or by prior arrangement.

Emergency

Fire evacuation procedures are clearly displayed around school. If the fire alarm sounds, leave the building via the nearest exit and proceed to the designated assembly point. Do not re-enter the building until you are told it is safe to do so.

​

 

Accidents

Any illness, injury or accident must be reported to the school office or Senior Leaders.

​

 

Property or vehicle

The school accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to visitors property or vehicle.

​

 

Acceptable Use of IT

To ensure the safety, security, and integrity of our IT systems, all visitors are required to adhere to the following acceptable use guidelines when using any school-provided devices, networks, or systems, including Wi-Fi access.

  • IT resources, including Wi-Fi, are provided for educational, administrative, or official purposes only.

  • Personal use is permitted only if it does not interfere with school operations or violate any policies.

  • Visitors may be granted access to the school’s guest Wi-Fi network.

  • Use of the Wi-Fi must comply with this Acceptable Use Policy.

  • Access credentials must not be shared with others.

  • The school reserves the right to monitor and restrict access as needed.

  • Do not attempt to access restricted areas of the network or systems.

  • Do not use staff or student login credentials.

  • Report any suspected security issues to a member of staff immediately.

  • Do not access, store, or share personal data of students or staff unless explicitly authorised.

  • All data must be handled in accordance with GDPR and school data protection policies.

  • All activity on school IT systems and Wi-Fi may be monitored.

  • Breaches of this policy may result in termination of access and further action if necessary.

Visitors must not:

  • Install or download software or apps without permission.
  • Access inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content.

  • Use IT systems or Wi-Fi for commercial, political, or unlawful purposes.

  • Connect personal devices to internal networks without prior approval

  • School devices must be used responsibly and returned in the condition they were provided.

  • Any damage or malfunction should be reported immediately.

Photographs & Data

As part of signing in, your photograph will be taken. These photos are stored for 1 year but can be removed on request.

Other sign in information is kept in line with retention records.
